On Saturday, March 14, in the “Dumitru Popescu Colibași” Sports Hall in Brașov, Corona and Dunărea Brăila offered one of the most beautiful matches of the current Flower League season. The guests led a good period of the game, but the hosts came back at the end and drew a draw: 29-29.
After the basketball team of the CSM Corona Brașov club was defeated by CSO Voluntari, 76-79the handball team entered the hall, which had a confrontation with Dunărea Brăila, a club to which it is rumored that Bogdan Burcea, the coach of the group under Tâmpa, will leave in the summer, along with other players.
CSM Corona Brașov came back from -5, but did not manage to win against Dunăria Brăila
The Romanian vice-champion was dominated by the Danube formation, which led with two goals at halftime: 13-15. After returning from the locker room, the difference increased to 5 goals in favor of the band from Brăila, 14-19, despite a time-out requested by Bogdan Burcea, who was very nervous and scolded Alisia Boiciuc.
3 consecutive goals by the yellow-blues followed, and the home fans began to hope for a positive result again. But, thanks to a good offensive, with many goals from the far left for the Polish Daria Michalak, Dunărea Brăila remained in the lead.
In the last 10 minutes, the difference started to decrease again and, in the 55th minute, Boiciuc equalized at 26 with a “bomb” from a long distance. The young national player continued to take the action on her own and kept the balance on the table.
With 30 seconds before the end, Boiciuc passed to Marilena Neagu, and she scored and brought the score to 30-29, but the referees canceled the goal and gave a shot from 7 meters. Sorina Grozav, who had scored the other 4 shots from 7 meters that she tried, was guessed by Elena Şerban, and the score remained equal.
Despite a time-out, the visitors were unable to shoot on goal in time, and the match ended at the score 29-29to the displeasure of fans who started chanting “thieves, thieves”.
The hosts' leaders were Sorina Grozav (8 goals), Alisia Boiciuc (5 goals) and Harma Van Kreij and Katarina Krpez with 4 goals each.
On the other side, Valeriia Kirdiasheva (7 goals), Daria Michalak (6 goals) and Katarina Jezic (5 goals) stood out.
Following this result, Corona Brașov reached a record of 13-1-3 and remains in 3rd place in the Flower League, while Dunărea Brăila, with 7-1-9, is in 6th position.
