According to forecasts, Polish airports will serve 100 million passengers in 2035, said Maciej Lasek, the government's representative for CPK. He added that over 66 million travelers used Polish ports in 2025, and according to forecasts, this year there will be over 73 million of them.


Lasek emphasized at the press conference that 2025 was a historic year for Polish aviation. – These sensational results are a great reason to be proud, but also a strong warning signal: we are approaching the limits of the capacity of our infrastructure. That is why we are consistently building an integrated system in which strong regional airports cooperate with a key hub. To meet future forecasts, we must quickly move from the modernization of Chopin Airport to the opening of a new, central airport as part of the Port Polska project. We have no time to waste, he added. He reported that last year Polish airports handled 66 million 258 thousand 4 passengers.
The President of Polish Airports, Łukasz Chaberski, announced that in 2033, when the Polish Airport will be open, approximately 95 million passengers will be served. – At PPL we are ready for this challenge. We have secured financing for our investments, we have a clear Integrated Strategy and we plan dynamic development not only in the passenger segment, but also in air cargo – he added.
– Our goal is to create the strongest aviation ecosystem in our part of Europe, which will stimulate the development of Poland's GDP and provide our citizens with air connectivity similar to that observed in the most developed economies in the world – emphasized Chaberski.
The President of the Management Board of the Association of Regional Airports, Anna Midera, noted that Polish regional airports handled 42 million passengers in 2025, i.e. 63%. all air traffic.
The conference also announced that, according to forecasts by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the upward trend will continue in the coming years. – In the base variant, in 2026, Polish airports will serve 73.3 million passengers. Surges will occur in the next decade. Looking even further into the future, forecasts for 2060 assume a level of up to 172 million travelers, he added.
PPL Management Board Member for Strategy and Marketing Adam Sanocki announced that, according to ACI Europe data, airports in Europe served 2.6 billion passengers. – Against this background, the past year proved that the Polish aviation market is still in a phase of rapid development. According to ACI Europe data, Polish aviation recorded an increase of +14.4%. y/y, leaving far behind the European average (+4.4%), he added.
The cargo market at airports is growing. Poland has ambitious plans
The conference also reported that air cargo transport in the European airport network increased by 3.2% in 2025. and amounted to nearly 15 million tons. Poland is responsible for approximately 1.4 percent. this result. According to PPL's forecasts, in 2032, 0.38 million tons of goods will be handled in Poland, and in 2041 – 1 million tons. In turn, in 2060, this market will grow to 1.68 million tons.

In 2025, Chopin Airport served 24 million passengers. It is to be fully operational until the opening of the new Port Polska airport, which is planned for 2032. Then, passenger traffic is to be transferred to the new port.
As part of the Port Polska investment program, the following are to be built: central airport located between Warsaw and Łódź. According to the adopted schedule, the construction of the CPK Airport in the municipalities of Baranów, Wiskitki and Teresin is to begin in 2026. In 2031, the airport is to obtain the necessary certifications, and in 2032 it is to be put into operation. (PAP)
