Lifehack for soft Easter cake: one secret – and the baked goods remain tender for a whole week

To ensure that the cake does not go stale for a long time and remains soft as on the first day, try a simple trick with sugar syrup. It creates a thin protective film that retains moisture inside the baked goods.

How to do:

  • Mix 2 tablespoons of sugar with 3 tablespoons of hot water, stir until dissolved.
  • Let the cake cool completely after baking.
  • Using a silicone brush or a clean gauze pad, lightly brush the top and sides of the finished cake with warm syrup.
  • Let the syrup soak in for 10-15 minutes, then remove the cake in a linen or cotton towel.
  • Store in a covered container or pan at room temperature.

Sugar syrup seals the pores of baked goods, slowing down the evaporation of moisture. Kulich remains soft, does not dry out or crumble even after 5–7 days.

Additional tip: place half an apple, cut side down, or a small piece of black bread in the container with the cake. They will be a natural humidifier and will extend the freshness of the baked goods for another couple of days. Change the apple or bread every 2 days.

This method does not change the taste of the cake, does not require expensive additives and works with any recipe.
