The same dinner from childhood: meatballs in sour cream melt in your mouth – a simple dish for the whole family

If you want to cook something hearty and tasty, this recipe will definitely suit you. Meatballs in sour cream sauce are ideal for a family evening. They turn out delicious, are easy to prepare and remind you of caring. The main advantage is that the food is probably in the refrigerator.

What you will need:

Mixed minced meat – 500 g
Round rice – 100 g
Onion – 1 piece
Medium carrots – 1 piece
Sour cream – 200 g
Tomato paste – 1 tbsp. l
Warm water – 1 glass
Salt and pepper to taste

How to cook:

  • Boil the rice until half cooked and cool.
  • Mix the minced meat with rice, add salt and pepper.
  • Roll the mixture into small balls the size of a walnut.
  • Fry the onions and carrots in a frying pan until soft.
  • Add sour cream, tomato paste and water, stir the sauce.
  • Place the meatballs in a mold or deep frying pan.
  • Pour in the sauce and simmer covered for 30 minutes over low heat.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes or buckwheat.

The sauce is tender and creamy. The meatballs become saturated with flavor and become very soft.

Bon appetit!

Question and answer:

Why does rice need to be cooked until half cooked?
Semi-cooked rice will absorb meat juice during stewing and will not boil into porridge. This will help the meatballs retain their shape and texture.

Can I use frozen minced meat?
Yes, but it needs to be completely defrosted before cooking. Otherwise, the balls may fall apart during formation.
