Construction of an escalator tunnel has begun at the Ulitsa Kopylova metro station in Krasnoyarsk. The press service of the regional government said that the work is being carried out by specialists from the Mosproekt-3 Group of Companies.
The tunnel will pass at an angle of 30 degrees to a depth of 35 meters. Its length is almost 70 meters, diameter is 8.5 meters. For laying, it will be necessary to select about 3,700 cubic meters of soil and install 1,130 tons of cast iron lining.
“We are installing the first temporary cast iron lining rings, there will be 19 of them in total. Then we will mount the block paver and begin excavation. We carry out the work using the mining method using small-scale mechanization devices,” said Konstantin Matveev, General Director of the Mosproekt-3 Group of Companies.

One of the key stages is the stabilization of water-saturated soils using artificial freezing. To do this, 43 wells with a depth of 67 meters were drilled along the contour of the future mine. After the installation of freezing machines, the soil will be kept at sub-zero temperatures until the construction of the lobby is completed – this guarantees the safety of excavation.
At the site of the future station vestibule, a pit fencing of 340 secant piles 20–22 meters deep is being erected.
After completion of construction, a domestically produced three-belt escalator will be installed in the tunnel. It will connect the underground lobby with the platform of the Ulitsa Kopylova station.
