Francesco Totti (49 years old) is very close to a return to the club for which he wrote history and became an idol, AS Romanearly six years after their tense split in 2019.
According to information published by the Italian press, negotiations between the former captain and the club's management have intensified in recent weeks, and an official announcement could come by the end of March.
Francesco Totti, role of advisor for Rome
The Romanian legend will not return as technical director, but in an advisory role to the management, a role comparable to that which Zlatan Ibrahimovic has at AC Milan.
In the new structure, Francesco Totti would be a link between the club's management, the technical staff and Roma's academy, involving himself in the sports strategy and in promoting the club's image at the international level.
Furthermore, his contract would be similar in structure to that of Claudio Ranieri, so that there would be no conflicts between Totti's personal sponsors and those of the club.

The club's current owners, the Friedkin family, have been working in recent months to bring the former captain back to the club. Talks between the parties have already created a solid basis for collaboration, and the return seems ever closer, notes corrieredellosport.it.
If there are no last-minute surprises, the former Roma captain will officially start his work next season.
