Donald Trump during a Wednesday conversation with journalists, he stated that Spain is not cooperating with the US in the war against Iran. The president emphasized that, in his opinion, this country was very unfavorable towards NATO and suggested the possibility of ending all trade with it. In this way, Donald Trump returned to the threat he formulated a week earlier during his meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
“I don't think they're cooperating at all […]. I don't know what Spain is doing, it has been very bad towards NATO, said Donald Trump, answering a question from a Spanish correspondent during a conversation with journalists before flying to Kentucky.
“We can end all trade with Spain. All trade, he added.

Earlier, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt assured that the government in Madrid had agreed to cooperate with the American military. However, Spanish authorities immediately denied these reports. Donald Trump accused Spain of not allowing its own bases to be used for operations against Iran.

The Madrid daily “ABC” pointed out that Pedro Sanchez's government supports US activities in the Middle East indirectly by participating in operations within the European Union and NATO. The newspaper recalled the sending of the Cristobal Colon frigate to support Cyprus and the presence of Spanish soldiers at the NATO base in Naples, which is also used by the United States.
