Sergei Vereshchagin personally congratulated Stepan Antonovich Grandovsky, honorary citizen of Krasnoyarsk, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, on his 101st birthday.
On March 10, the head of the city came to visit the birthday boy and said that this was a great honor for him.
Your frontline path Stepan Grandovsky began volunteering in the infantry in 1943 when he was 17 years old. He took part in the crossing of the Dnieper and was wounded. After the hospital, he retrained as an artilleryman, returned to duty and commanded an artillery department. He was awarded the medal “For Military Merit” for the downed enemy Tiger.
After serving in the Soviet army, in the 50s he moved to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, where he graduated from the Technological Institute and started a family. He worked at the mica factory in Zaozernoye and retired as director of the Achinsk toy factory.
“Stepan Antonovich has two daughters and grandchildren. Every morning he does exercises, walks and paints – and this at 101 years old! By May 9, we will definitely organize an exhibition of the veteran’s paintings. Krasnoyarsk residents should see his work. Let's wish Stepan Antonovich health! We agreed that we would go together to the celebrations on Victory Day,” the mayor wrote on his social networks.
