Ilie Bolojan, meeting with the new US ambassador in Bucharest. The Prime Minister presented him with the decision of the CSAT

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan welcomed the new ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, Darryl Nirenberg, at the Victoria Palace on Wednesday. Bolojan presented the decision of the CSAT regarding the temporary deployment of defensive equipment and American military forces in Romania, the Executive sent in a press release.

“Welcome to Romania and good luck in your mandate, so that the solid cooperation between Romania and the United States of America is consolidated and reaches a new level. In your mission you can count on a fair partnership with the Government of Romania,” said Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan.

The decision of the Supreme National Defense Council (CSAT) regarding the location in Romania of American refueling planes, monitoring equipment and satellite communications equipment was approved by the Parliament on Wednesday.

“For Romania, security and defense are the foundation of the Strategic Partnership between our countries and we work together to adapt them to new challenges and to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including within NATO,” Bolojan conveyed to the US ambassador.

“The Prime Minister also mentioned that the Government's priorities are maintaining political stability, adopting a responsible budget, continuing to reduce the budget deficit and consolidating a healthy economy. The Head of Government emphasized that the Partnership with the USA is a solid one, and its objective is to strengthen it not only in the security component, but also in the economic and investment component. A priority is the increase of American investments in Romania's economy, and the adopted measures aim at creating a more competitive and more attractive”, says the Government.

For its part, the United States embassy in Bucharest reported that Ambassador Darryl Nirenberg met with the Prime Minister to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the two countries.

“Discussions focused on ensuring that our alliance remains a central pillar of regional stability while expanding bilateral trade and investment opportunities. By deepening economic ties and security cooperation, we want to continue working closely with the Romanian government to make both the United States and Romania safer and more prosperous,” the US embassy in Bucharest said.
