The US asked Israel to stop attacking some targets in Iran. Reasons for Washington's concern

The United States has asked Israel to stop attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure, according to Axios, citing three sources familiar with the matter.
An Israeli official stated that Washington sent this message to a high political level as well as to the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir.
Axios claims that US officials cited three reasons, the first being the US desire to work with Iran in the energy sector after the end of the war.
Second, the US is concerned about the impact these attacks would have on the population, as well as retaliation by the Tehran regime targeting the energy infrastructure of the Persian Gulf states.
The White House, the US State Department and the Israeli Embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
In a press conference on Monday, President Donald Trump said the US military had struck 5,000 targets in Iran, but not in the energy sector.
“Some very important, some we've left for later in case we have to do it,” Trump said, referring to Iran's energy infrastructure, which he said he aims to keep intact to rebuild the country after the removal of the theocratic regime.
