Auto giant Porsche is facing a huge drop in profits. The German carmaker posted an operating profit of just 90 million euros last year, a 98% drop from 2024.
In 2024 the German car manufacturer recorded an operating profit of 5.3 billion euros, and now it has completely collapsed. Operating profit represents the difference between revenue and production expenses, as well as administrative expenses, excluding fees and taxes. The data was provided by World of Statistics.

The Porsche company is owned by Volkswagen, and officials from the parent company have announced that layoffs will follow soon at the Stuttgart automaker: 3,900 people will lose their jobs by 2030. And Volkswagen has suffered a big drop in net profit: almost 44% less than in 2024 (from 12.4 billion to only 6.9 billion in 2025).
VW cited the rise of electric mobility, the growth of the Chinese market and high tariffs in the United States as reasons for the declines.
“The reasons for the reduction are a fundamentally changed market environment in China, US tariffs, the slower growth of electromobility and the unique and special effects associated with it,” Volkswagen said, according to DW.

VW management also said that company-wide, 50,000 jobs will disappear by 2030 in an attempt to turn the company around: 35,000 at Volkswagen, 7,500 at Audi and only 3,900 at Audi, according to the cited source.
