Free screening for hepatitis C is carried out once at the age of 25, and then every 10 years: at 35, 45, 55, 65, 75, 85 and 95 years. This test helps find the disease before it leads to cirrhosis and severe liver damage.

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, on the basis of the emergency hospital named after. N.S. Karpovich (Emergency Hospital) opened a specialized center that coordinates the treatment of patients with chronic viral hepatitis in all medical institutions in the region. A specially formed medical commission of the center selects patients for preferential treatment at the expense of federal and regional budgets, as well as compulsory medical insurance funds.

“It is important to note that at the current stage of development of medicine, chronic viral hepatitis C is a curable disease, if, of course, the patient was observed and sought help on time. In this case, we have a great chance of maintaining a working population without any serious consequences, without the development of cirrhosis of the liver and the onset of disability,” said the head of the center, Vladimir Chernykh.
