The Krasnoyarsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS will develop a digital model of the atmosphere of the regional capital. The information is posted on the government procurement portal, reports sibnovosti.ru. The cost of the work was estimated at 32 million rubles.

Scientists will have to create a prototype of a digital twin of air, adapting special mathematical models and algorithms. The new system will make it possible to predict the state of the atmosphere and build detailed maps of weather and pollution. Separately, researchers will model the impact of the ice-free Yenisei on the climate.
Due to the operation of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station, the river within the city does not freeze even in severe frosts. There is still no consensus in the scientific community whether it is worth trying to artificially freeze the Yenisei: some believe that this will improve the environment, others doubt the effectiveness of such measures.
They plan to complete the development of the digital model by August of this year, and test it by August next.
