The Independent Public Provincial Hospital in Szczecin fell victim to an attack by cybercriminals. The IT system has been infected. The facility has switched to paper mode of operation, hospital spokesman Tomasz Owsik-Kozłowski announced on Sunday.


The attack by cybercriminals on the IT system of the Szczecin provincial hospital took place on the night from Saturday to Sunday. According to Owsik-Kozłowski, the system was infected. The criminals encrypted some of the data, blocking access to it.
– The hospital urgently implemented emergency procedures, including: switching to paper mode. The facility's management immediately informed the relevant services about the attack and remains in constant contact with them, Owsik-Kozłowski noted.
He assured that Despite these difficulties, patients' health and lives are not at risk. He emphasized that currently “the hospital's priority is to restore access to the IT system and return to standard mode of operation.”
