A week ago, interim Michael Carrick said that the team needs reinforcements in the midfield.

Manchester United want to sign Marcus Tavernier from Bournemouth

Manchester United's top target for the summer transfer window is Marcus Tavernier, claims the DailyMail.

While it is still unclear whether or not Michael Carrick will continue on the Manchester United bench, the interim manager has stated that the team needs reinforcements in midfield.

Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest is also on the list of the “red devils”, as well as Jan Diomande, the player from RB Leipzig.

Tavernier is enjoying a good season at Bournemouth, scoring 5 goals and providing 4 assists in 25 Premier League appearances.

The Cherries midfielder is valued at £40m, and Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest have also expressed an interest in Tavernier.

Tavernier is in his fourth season at Bournemouth, having been bought in the summer of 2022 from Championship side Middlesbrough for around €12m.

Tavernier was also one of Bournemouth's most important players in the spectacular 4-4 draw at Old Trafford.

After 2-1 at half-time for Manchester United, Tavernier provided the decisive pass to Evanilson for the 2-2 goal in the 46th minute, and in the 52nd minute, the midfielder made it 3-2 in favor of the Cherries.

Since the end of the previous season, Bournemouth have lost several important players. Central defender Dean Huijsen arrived at Real Madrid for 60 million euros, and the “cherries” lost another defender last summer, Ilya Zabarnyi, who arrived at PSG for 63 million euros.

Also in the summer, left-back Milos Kerkez left for Liverpool for 43 million euros, and midfielder Ouattara Dango left for Brentford for 42 million euros. The series of departures was completed by Antoine Semenyo, who was transferred in the winter by Manchester City for the sum of 72 million euros.
