Explosion at the US embassy in Oslo. The police do not rule out the possibility of an act of terrorism

Norwegian police intervened on Sunday morning at the US embassy in Oslo, following an explosion at the entrance of the building. No casualties were reported, and the circumstances of the incident are being investigated, according to the BBC.
The explosion occurred at 01:00 local time, at which time police sent “significant resources” to that area of the capital. In an official statement, the police stated that “it is in dialogue with the embassy and no victims have been reported”.
At the same time, the authorities added that at the moment “there is no information about what exactly happened or who might be involved”.
Frode Larsen, head of the Oslo police investigation unit, told Norwegian public broadcaster NRK that one of the hypotheses being analyzed is that of an act of terrorism. He stated, however, that the investigation remains open to other possible reasons.
Michael Dellemyr, the coordinator of the operation, told public broadcaster NRK that the explosion occurred at the public entrance of the building.
Police searched the Morgedalsvegen district, 7km from the city centre, and launched a public appeal for witnesses.
Although the building suffered only minor damage, Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide called the incident “unacceptable”. He emphasized that the security of diplomatic missions is essential.
