Donald Trump praises Giorgia Meloni's willingness to help in US-Israel-Iran war: 'Great leader and my friend'
US President Donald Trump praised Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and said she was willing to help the United States and Israel in their war with Iran, Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reported on Sunday.
In a phone call with the newspaper, Trump described Meloni as “a great leader” and said Italy was doing everything it could to help.
“I love Italy, I think she's a great leader,” Trump said of Meloni, according to Corriere della Sera.
“She's always trying to help, she's an excellent leader and she's my friend,” Trump said, according to the Italian newspaper.
Italy plans to send air defense aid to Gulf countries in the face of Iranian airstrikes, Meloni said on Thursday.
An Italian navy ship is preparing to sail to Cyprus, a navy spokesman said on Friday, as part of a joint European mission to protect the island after it was attacked by Iran.
