After attacks on oil storage facilities, Tehran was covered in “black rain.” Photo, video

As a result, four people died, the agency claims. Iranian authorities urged residents not to go out.

The state agency writes that a series of attacks hit the Agdasieh oil warehouse in northeast Tehran and an oil storage facility in Karaj. Black smoke rose to a height of several kilometers and began to settle in the form of oily precipitation at a distance of tens of kilometers from the epicenter of the fires, the report said.

“The rain is black. I can’t believe it. This is even in Tajrish – and this is very far from the oil storage facilities,” Time quotes an eyewitness. Something “like a black monster swallowed the sky over Tehran, as if all the cars and asphalt were painted black,” said another interlocutor of the publication.

“The city is dark, the sky is black. We are suffocating,” CNN reports the words of a Tehran resident.

Al Jazeera, citing humanitarian organizations, writes that explosions of oil storage facilities release toxic hydrocarbons and sulfur oxides into the atmosphere, causing precipitation to acquire strong acidic properties. It is deadly for people to take shelter under trees – the leaves concentrate acid. Streams of burning oil flowed through the streets of Tehran, and buildings were covered with black streaks of soot, notes GB News.

Fox News correspondent Trey Ingst showed a video of a black sky over Tehran.

Videos of black rain over the city are also being published online.
