VIDEO Famous skyscraper in Dubai, hit by the fragments of an intercepted projectile

A building in the Dubai Marina district was hit by fragments from an aerial interception, which “caused a minor incident” on the facade of the tower located in a residential area popular with tourists, according to the announcement made by the Dubai government press office on Saturday evening, as quoted by The Wall Street Journal, Anadolu news agency and NDTV.

The press office said that the anti-aircraft defenses successfully intercepted one projectile, but the falling fragments damaged the exterior of the building. According to Euronews.com, it is the 23 Marina tower, an 88-story residential and hotel skyscraper.

“Authorities confirm that debris resulting from a successful interception caused a minor incident on the facade of a tower in Dubai Marina. The situation has been brought under control. No casualties have been reported,” the Dubai government press office said.

Dubai airport runway hit by drone

Also on Saturday, a drone hit the runway at Dubai International Airport, causing an explosion followed by a large cloud of smoke. The moment was filmed by a witness.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to neighboring countries that were attacked by Tehran's forces in response to attacks launched by the United States and Israel on Iran. He claimed that these attacks were not coordinated from the center but were “own initiatives” of the military units.

According to the Iranian leader, the new interim governing council has approved a strategic change: no more attacks or missile strikes will be launched against neighboring countries. But there is a clear condition: “unless an attack against Iran comes from these countries,” notes Reuters.

Despite the statements made by President Pezeshkian on Saturday, explosions were still heard in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Qatar, according to CNN.

Also on Saturday, the president of the Emirates first public statements since Iran launched missiles and drones on its Gulf neighbors.

“In a message to the enemies, the UAE is attractive, the UAE is beautiful, the UAE is a model. But I say to them: don't be misled by the appearances of the UAE – the UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh – we are not easy prey,” he told Abu Dhabi TV on Saturday, on the sidelines of a visit to a hospital where people injured in Iranian attacks are, according to ARN News Centre.
