US President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that the Cuban authorities were conducting negotiations with the Americans and assessed that concluding an agreement with Havana would be easy. He declared that these were the last moments of the current Cuban regime, and the island was facing a “great change” and a great future.

Trump said during the Shield of the Americas Summit in Florida that the US officially recognized the Venezuelan government last week. The two countries also reached an agreement on the sale of gold and other minerals by Venezuela.
– They have great potential. Gold. Good land. They couldn't use it. The system did not allow them to take advantage of the value of their land, Trump emphasized.
He announced that soon “a great change will take place” in Cuba as well. – This is the end of Cuba. They have no money, they have no oil. They have a bad philosophy. They have a bad regime, said the US president.
Trump added that the Cuban authorities are conducting negotiations with him and are also talking to US Secretary of State Mark Rubio.
– These are the last moments of Kuba in his current form. She will have a new, wonderful life, said the American leader. He expressed his belief that concluding an agreement with the authorities in Havana would be easy.
This is another recent statement in this vein by Trump regarding Cuba. The president said, among other things, that the fall of the regime in Cuba is only a matter of time. At the end of February, he stated that the US was talking to the authorities in Havana and that it might end with a “friendly takeover” of the island.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the US goal is to reach an agreement with some of the Cuban regime's elites to carry out a transformation on the island in a similar way to what happened in Venezuela, allied with Cuba.
