Andrei Ciolacu (33 years old), former player for teams such as Rapid, ASA Târgu Mureș or FCU Craiova, revealed that he was released from his contract after parting with Valletta, a team from Malta.

Thus, Andrei Ciolacu is considering returning to Romania this summer, after playing in the previous 6 seasons in Malta, two seasons each in Floriana, Birkirkara and Valletta.

The attacker also spoke about the option of staying in Malta, where he would obtain citizenship.

“If I was going to stay there, I would take Maltese citizenship in September. And, yes, it would be a principle I would have continued because I would have played for the national team.

There were discussions there. They naturalize a lot of players. Yes, there were talks about me and the national team, it would have motivated me to stay there.

I played four years in the first league and one year with Valletta in League 2, when the team was relegated for the first time in history, like Dinamo. I helped them to promote and it became the flag team of the country again“.

Brought up by Rapid, for whom he scored 34 matches in League 1, Andrei Ciolacu also performed throughout his career for CS Otopeni, Slask, ASA Târgu Mureș, Warriors, Daco-Getica, Metaloglobus, Tskhinvali, Avezzano, FCU Craiova, Floriana, Birkirkara and Valletta.

This year, Andrei Ciolacu officially played only 9 minutes, in the match won by Valletta on January 7, 2-0 against Birkirkara. Since then, the Romanian striker was only an unused reserve, until the moment when he terminated his contract.

In the 6 seasons he spent in Malta, Andrei Ciolacu scored 23 goals at the level of the first division and 16 goals in the second echelon.
