Considered last summer, when it first promoted to the 2nd League, as a team that will struggle to stay in the second echelon, FC Bacău is now the great revelation of the championship. After the victory achieved on Friday on the field of a great promotion favorite, FC Voluntari, score 2-1, the Moldovans reached their ninth consecutive match without defeat, one less than CFR Cluj.
Gazeta Sporturilor had a dialogue with the coach of the group from the city of Bacovia, Costel Enache, who explained the recipe for success.
Costel Enache: “I really felt a bit confused by so much praise”
– Congratulations, Costel, if someone told you last summer that you would reach nine games without defeat what would you say?
– He's crazy! Even if it's a joke, it has a grain of truth. We had barely been promoted, many people told us that we would be relegated, we had players who a year and a half ago were playing at Șomuz Fălticeni, plus many children, there were not many reasons for optimism. However, with a lot of work, with a lot of seriousness, we reached the good level we are at now.
– How many messages did you receive after today's match?
– Immediately when I opened the phone after the match, I already had almost 30, including from people I hadn't talked to in a long time.
– Were you surprised?
– Yes, and because, as a rule, I received messages only from family and relatives, but also because all the messages were superlative. I really felt a little confused by all the praise. I know that we played a good game, but I also know that the team expressed itself better in other parts of some games. I can't wait to see the match again, let's see why I impressed so much.
How he beat the favorite for promotion
– You made some surprising moves against FC Voluntari. Please explain them.
– Taking into account the specifics of the opponent, we thought of the match like this: let's start with strong players, let's stop the pressing that we usually do from the start, and then, after the opponent gets tired, let's rely on fast players, like Aftanache, Petre, Ciobanu. Everything we prepared worked out and because the result helped us.
– How does Patrick Petre accept being a reserve at a newly promoted team in the 2nd League?
– He is a great boy, he understands everything I ask of him, he has an excellent attitude in the dressing room and when he is on the bench.
– You took a risk on the right flank, where two kids played, Bordea and Luncașu, but it worked out.
– Not to upset the other players, but this is the greatest satisfaction, to see two children born in 2008 play the way they did today.
– It seemed that you were even fresher physically at the end.
– Every day, regardless of the specifics of the training, we also train a basic motor quality. This feels, I don't think we've been physically dominated in too many games this season.
“I will never teach children to cheat!”
– What keys does FC Bacău have?
– Financial peace, the fact that we have created a style of play based on the pattern of the players in the squad, the team spirit, the fact that we are good at fighting, something that exists in Bacău's DNA. Know that even during training the legs crackle, but no one gets upset, they are all friends.
– You also have a “flaw” for Romanian football, I don't really see time-consuming…
– We work with many children. I could never teach them to cheat! If they “steal” habits like this from others, I have nothing to do with them. In Bacău, however, they will never be asked to counterplay.
– You had a little bit left and you were fighting in the play-off.
– Let's not anger God! We know the length of our noses. We have grown a lot, in all aspects, including mentally after these positive results, but we must not burn the stages.
– What are you thinking?
– In the seniors, let's continue to grow in the second phase of the championship. On the club level, we still want to train and promote other talented children, the main goal of FC Bacău.
– Can the Bacauans dream of a new impact team, like those from the 1970-1990 period and even after the Revolution?
– It's a long way to go. We want to grow up healthy, we see what the future holds for us.
