European Union countries “sooner or later will pay the price” if they remain silent about the US-Israeli attack on Iran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagei said in an interview on Thursday with Spanish state television TVE.

– If Europe remains silent in the face of this violation of international law, all countries will pay the price sooner or later. No UN member state can remain indifferent (to the US attack on Iran), the spokesman said.
He added that Iran wants to maintain good relations with Arab countries in the region and does not intentionally attack any of them. – The problem is that these territories are used by the United States for preparations and logistics, and to launch missiles towards Iran, he stressed.
On Wednesday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said his country opposes the U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran as illegal under international law. Earlier, Iran's ambassador to Madrid, Reza Zabib, said he “appreciated the Spanish government's response to the aggression.”
Spain's attitude, including the refusal of American forces to use military bases in the south of the country during the attack on Iran, was criticized on Tuesday by US President Donald Trump, threatening to break off trade relations with Madrid.
Despite the threats, representatives of the Spanish government repeat that they will not provide bases for operations in the Middle East, and in the matter of trade relations, they emphasize – together with EU representatives – the need to comply with US-EU agreements.
On Saturday, February 28, the US and Israel launched airstrikes against targets in Iran, killing, among others: supreme leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, the Iranian army began shelling objects in Israel and other Middle Eastern countries.
