PEJ is the investor and future operator of the power plant being built in the Choczewo commune. The contractor will be the Westinghouse Electric Company–Bechtel Corporation consortium. Start of construction of the nuclear part – by pouring the so-called the first nuclear concrete – is planned for 2028, while the commercial operation of the first unit is scheduled for 2036.

Participation of Polish companies in nuclear energy
PEJ declares that the share of domestic enterprises in the investment is expected to be approximately 40%.
However, the president of Westinghouse Polska, Mirosław Kowalik, assessed that the potential of the Polish economy allows it to achieve even “50 percent plus”, which is the internal goal of the consortium.
In turn, the president of Bechtel Polska, Leszek Hołda, informed that the consortium's database already includes over a thousand Polish companies interested in the project. 31 domestic entities are participating in the ongoing proceedings with a total value of approximately PLN 1.7 billion.
These proceedings include, among others: construction of a workers' town for a thousand beds, construction of a module assembly hall and implementation of earthworks.

Over 170 further procedures covering construction works and services are planned over the next 18 months. The database of potential contractors remains open, and the registration process takes place via the consortium's website.
Key personnel for the project
Grzegorz Maj, the representative of the PEJ management board for market development support, emphasized that it is crucial to build a competence base that will allow to increase the participation of Polish companies and employees in the project.
At peak times, the construction site is expected to employ approximately 10,500 people. people. The company declares that it wants these employees to be Polish as much as possible.
