Nuclear weapons in Poland. The Pentagon representative responds decisively

What did the representative of the US administration say?
The deputy head of the Pentagon was asked about the possibility of European countries developing nuclear capabilities. “I have not heard credible information that European governments are really thinking about independently acquiring (nuclear weapons) and violating their obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty,” Elbridge Colby said. He also added that the US would try to dissuade European countries from such plans. — I think, of course, we would at least strongly oppose it. It's hypothetical, but we are against such an eventuality, he added.
