At around 5am, Keita drove over an elderly woman who was crossing the street. The midfielder was returning from prayer. He fled the scene before police arrived, but was picked up by authorities around 10am.
Keita was accompanied by the club's lawyers for questioning. The Ivorian midfielder does not know the Romanian language. The person he ran over with the car was rushed to the hospital. The accident took place on Gherghiței Street in Bucharest.
Victor Angelescu: “Keita got scared and left before the police came”
“I found out after the meal that he was involved in the accident, he ran over a person with his car. What I can say is that he was going to the morning prayer. Around 5:30 he was coming back and there was that accident. He stopped, checked on that person, the ambulance was called.
He panicked, he left there. Around 10 o'clock the police took him in for questioning, I sent lawyers to represent him. As far as I know, a few hours ago he was still with the police. I feel very sorry for him, he is a grade 10 boy. His wife and child had just arrived in the country. He has a two-month-old baby, he was very happy.
Around 12 o'clock last night, the coach arrived in Bucharest. In the morning he got up to go to prayer. Then there was the accident. The injured person is in hospital. I sent a lawyer to go with him, because he doesn't speak Romanian. He was not drinking, we know that for sure, since it was also the period of Ramadan.
There was no such problem. I don't know how it happened. I repeat, being an investigation… I just know it was the accident, he got scared and left before the police came“, declared Victor Angelescu, at Prima Sport 1.
