publication thought published a document on Tuesday evening, entitled “party welcome card”, which it says was signed by the current USR Minister of Defense, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, Radu Miruță. In a public reaction on Facebook, Radu Miruță says that the data in the document belong to him, but that in reality he was never part of the party now led by Sorin Grindeanu.

USR has denied in the past that Miruță was part of PSD. The document published by Gândul was signed in 2005. The USR minister and deputy prime minister now says that he signed several documents that year, when he was a student and “we went to the sea with PSD, organized by the dormitory administration”.

Radu Miruță's reaction: “The given respects were available at the faculty dormitory”

In a reaction on Facebook on Tuesday evening, Miruță admits that the data in the document belongs to him, then offers some explanations.

“I see that a publication made public a document from which it would appear that I had registered in the PSD 21 years ago. Yes, the data in the document belong to me. Yes, that data was available at the faculty dormitory. Yes, there I signed several documents when I went to the sea with the PSD, organized by the dormitory administration as the head of the landing stage of the faculty dormitory, none of us having anything to do with politics at that time”, claims the USR minister of Defense.

“If the PSD, led at that time by Mr. Ponta, used the data of the students he took to the beach to increase the number of members, then I think that Mr. Ponta must explain how and why he did so. What would have been the logic of signing up and not activating anything at all? Neither before nor after going with the gang from Electronics, for free and students, a weekend at the beach?!”, continued Miruță.

He says that when he decided to get involved politically “I completed membership, created branches, teams and became a parliamentarian”.

“A former party chairman presents things as if it was a shame to be a member of that party”

Radu Miruță also refers to former PSD president Victor Ponta, who said, on January 28, in a show on Gândul, that the USR minister was in the PSD.

“What seems absurd to me is not only the fakeness of what I would have signed 21 years ago, but how a former party president presents things as if it was a shame to be a member of that party. Embarrassing attack,” writes the USR deputy prime minister.

Miruță says that he never expressed his consent to become a member of the PSD, but states that he respects the voters of the Social Democrats: “I respect those who believe in the PSD and I do not consider it a shame that they are members.”
