The investigation believes that it was he who commanded the missile attack of the occupying army on the Kyiv children's hospital “Okhmatdyt” on July 8, 2024. Suspicion was reported in absentia because the person involved is located on Russian territory.
According to the case, the Russian Federation attacked a medical facility with an X-101 air-to-ground strategic cruise missile. The launch was carried out from a Russian Tu-95MS bomber.
Soon after the missile attack, Kuvaldin, who held the position of first deputy commander – chief of staff, was promoted to head of long-range aviation of the Russian Air Force, the SBU noted.
The Office of the Prosecutor General recalled that at the time of the attack on Okhmatdyt there were about 600 children in the hospital. A young doctor and the grandfather of one of the patients were killed, and 34 people (including nine children) were injured. Several buildings where patients received highly specialized care were severely destroyed.
Previously, Kuvaldin was informed of suspicion of organizing a rocket attack on Lviv on September 4, 2024. Then the attack claimed the lives of eight people, including a mother and three daughters from the Bazilevich family (Yarina, Darina, Emilia and Evgenia).
