Alpine skier from Krasnoyarsk will perform at the Paralympic Games in Italy

Alpine skier from Krasnoyarsk Alexey Bugaev will take part in the 2026 Paralympic Games. In Italy, the athlete will compete in five different disciplines: downhill, super-G, super combined, slalom and giant slalom.

Alexey Bugaev is a true legend of Paralympic alpine skiing. The Krasnoyarsk resident has three victories at the Paralympic Games. The athlete won two gold medals at the Games in Sochi in 2014, and one in Pyeongchang in 2018. During his career, the athlete won the podium dozens of times at the World Cup and European Cup.

Among women, an athlete from the Irkutsk region, a native of Baikalsk, Varvara Voronchikhina, will compete for medals in alpine skiing at the Paralympics.

In total, six athletes will represent Russia at the Games. In addition to alpine skiers, the team included: parasnowboarders Dmitry Fadeev and Philip Shebbo Monzer, skiers Ivan Golubkov and Anastasia Bagiyan.

The opening ceremony of the Paralympics will take place on March 6 in Verona, the competition will last until March 15. For the first time since 2014, Russian athletes will compete at the Games under their national flag, as the IPC General Assembly decided to fully restore the membership of the Russian Paralympic Committee.
