Naum Abramovich Korchminsky was born on March 3, 1922. In 1940 he graduated from the Birobidzhan Pedagogical School, after which he worked as a teacher of Russian language and literature.

N.A. Korchminsky headed the regional library named after. Sholom Aleichem from 1943 to 1955, almost ten years, until he moved to the Birobidzhaner Stern newspaper (12+) in 1955. A year later he became its editor-in-chief. For almost 30 years, Naum Abramovich Korchminsky was the editor of the Birobidzhaner Stern newspaper.

An expert in the Yiddish language, Naum Abramovich trained a whole group of Jewish journalists, together with whom he achieved the growth and improvement of the newspaper. Under him, “Birobidzhaner Stern” began to be published on four large format pages and gained fame beyond the borders of not only the region, but also the country.

Having retired to a well-deserved retirement, personal pensioner of union importance N.A. Korchminsky continued to collaborate with the editorial office of regional radio broadcasting for a number of years, until April 1991.

N. A. Korchminsky actively participated in the social and political life of the region: he was elected to the regional committee of the CPSU, a deputy of the Birobidzhan City Council, and was the chairman of the regional branch of the Knowledge Society and the organization of book lovers.

The merits of N. A. Korchminsky were awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, several medals, the Certificate of Honor of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR, and the title “Honored Worker of Culture of the RSFSR.”

In March 1997, after a serious illness, Naum Abramovich Korchminsky died.

March 3, 1959

The Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU approved the patriotic initiative of graduates of the Smidovichi secondary school, who expressed a desire to go to work at the Volochaevsky state farm. He found warm support among graduates of area high schools. Of the 610 graduates, 425 people expressed a desire to go to work on state and collective farms.

March 3, 1969

The Bureau of the Regional Committee of the CPSU summed up the results of a public review of the use of working time at enterprises and construction sites in the region.

99 enterprises and organizations of the region took part in the show, with the participation of more than 2.3 thousand engineering and technical workers and leading production workers. During the review, 1,566 proposals were received. The implementation of 991 proposals resulted in savings in the amount of 715 thousand rubles.

143 plans for the scientific organization of labor were introduced with an economic effect of 482 thousand rubles. It was decided to extend the review until April 1970.

The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” on March 3, 1982 wrote about the contribution of Birobidzhan residents to the construction of the power line-500, “the combined detachment of Birobidzhan at the construction of the power line-500 Zeyskaya HPP – Khabarovsk reports that the obligations undertaken were fulfilled a month and a half ahead of schedule. When tasked with cutting a clearing 12.5 kilometers long, it was actually cut through 13.5 kilometers, with the task of installing 19 foundations for supports, 20 were installed. Work continues.”

The same newspaper publishes material about our region in the 11th Five-Year Plan. The output of consumer goods at regional enterprises will increase by 17.1%, including cultural, household and household goods by 14.9%. The production of outer knitwear, hosiery and garments, felted and leather shoes, voltage stabilizers, and kitchen furniture will increase.

“In 1981-1985, an extensive housing construction program will be completed. Residential buildings with a total area of about 448 thousand square meters will be built in the region. This will improve the living conditions of approximately 45 thousand citizens. Services for the repair of household machines and appliances, maintenance and repair of vehicles owned by citizens, repair and manufacture of furniture, individual tailoring of shoes and knitting of knitwear will be developed at a rapid pace. A network of cultural and educational institutions will be developed. It is planned to put into operation the building of a cultural and educational school in the city of Birobidzhan. The construction of a regional philharmonic building with a concert hall for 500 seats will continue. The capacity of telephone exchanges will increase by 17 thousand numbers during the eleventh five-year period, including in rural areas.”

In the newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) on March 3, 1985, information about a review of trade union groups of livestock farms was published on the front page. Trade union groups of livestock farms are called upon to play an important role in mobilizing rural workers to ensure the implementation of plans and socialist obligations. Their task is to organize socialist competition and take care of working and living conditions. In order to intensify this work, the regional committee of the agricultural workers' trade union and the editorial office of the Birobidzhan Star newspaper decided to hold a regional review of the work of trade union groups of livestock farms.
