The All-Russian festival of student sports “Univer League” has ended in Krasnoyarsk. The head of the region, Mikhail Kotyukov, congratulated the participants on the completion of the competition and awarded the most productive team of athletes.
The press service of the Krasnoyarsk Territory government reported that the event brought together about 3 thousand students, including those who came to study in Russia from abroad. Over four days, participants competed for dozens of sets of awards in 27 traditional and innovative sports.
“Thank you for your energy, emotions, dedication and desire to win. We spent several fantastic days in an atmosphere of sport, competition and, most importantly, friendship. Today we repeated the success of the Winter Universiade 2019: then there were about 3,000 athletes in Krasnoyarsk, and now there are the same number here. Krasnoyarsk today, with your energy and efforts, confirmed the status of the student sports winter capital of Russia,” noted Mikhail Kotyukov.
The participants and guests of the festival were also greeted by the Director of the Department of Physical Culture and Mass Sports of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation Maxim Urazov and the Chairman of the Russian Student Sports Union Sergei Kryukov. They noted the high level of organization of the festival in Krasnoyarsk.
The governor presented the main award – the cup of the absolute winner of the UniverLeague. The winner of the trophy was the student sports club “Guard” from the Tyumen region.
Also at the closing ceremony of the festival, the winners of special nominations were determined:
- Regional UniverLeague Cup (for teams from the Krasnoyarsk Territory) – student sports club “Belki” (Siberian Federal University);
- GTO UniverLeague Cup – student sports club “Guard” from the Tyumen region;
- Winter Fan Cup – student sports club “Irbis” from the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In addition to the competitions, festival participants attended lectures, master classes and meetings with Russian sports stars. In the format of an open dialogue, the famous choreographer, producer of ice shows and sporting events, Olympic silver medalist Ilya Averbukh, Olympic silver medalist, world and European figure skating champion Evgenia Medvedeva, Olympic silver medalist Nikolai Olyunin and others spoke with the students.
The Krasnoyarsk Territory was represented at the festival by teams from leading universities in the region. The delegation of the Siberian Federal University became the largest – more than 300 people.
Let us remind you that the All-Russian festival of student sports “Univer League” started in the regional capital on February 27. The competitions took place at the venues of the XXIX World Winter Universiade 2019.
