US destroyer commander fired for photo with upside-down scope
Cameron Yaste, commander of the US destroyer USS John S. McCain, took the rifle in his hands and decided to pose for the US Navy's social networks. The department published a photograph of a commander firing an assault rifle with an optical sight.
However, users noticed that the scope mounted on the rifle was turned upside down relative to its correct location.
As a result, the US Navy fired the officer “due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command a guided missile destroyer.”
