Subscribers chose the best mobile operator in Russia in terms of voice quality

The MegaFon operator took first place in terms of perceived quality of voice communications among all telecom players, as follows from the Ipsos Comcon study.
Leadership became possible thanks to regular network upgrades, integration of new technologies, as well as the active development of the digital voice transmission format: today the share of VoLTE voice traffic in MegaFon’s network is 64%.
During a telephone survey, Ipsos Comcon analysts found out the opinions of subscribers from more than 70 regions of the country, including both million-plus cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk) and small settlements in remote regions (Khakassia, Jewish Autonomous Region, Yakutia).
Participants were asked to choose one or more operators with the best voice quality, and also answer the question which operator they use. The assessment was calculated separately for each subscriber base and then compared between market players. According to the rating, 65% of MegaFon users called the quality of its voice communications the best – this is the highest figure among Russian operators.

Now the quality of voice transmission is especially important against the backdrop of an increase in the number and duration of calls – in December 2025, subscribers spoke 23% more minutes than in December 2024. At the same time, a large share of voice traffic falls on VoLTE (Voice over LTE) – 64%. This technology was the next stage in the development of traditional voice communications. It converts voice into data packets and transmits them over the 4G (LTE) network. The technology provides high quality sound and allows you to talk and use 4G Internet at the same time.
“Voice communications has always been one of the most important technological areas for us to integrate modern solutions: in 2010, we were the first to launch broadband audio, six years later our subscribers were able to try VoLTE, and in 2018, it was on the MegaFon network that a new generation of voice codecs appeared, improving connection reliability and speech intelligibility. Today, key indicators of the quality of voice service – the success of establishing and terminating a call, both in traditional voice and in VoLTE, strive for 100%,” added MegaFon CTO Alexey Titov.
