The officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) from Chisinau emphasize that eight Moldovans in Israel requested consular assistance, five – from Qatar and Kuwait, through diplomatic missions, and two others – from the United Arab Emirates. The requests concern, including problems related to the accommodation of Moldovan citizens.

At the same time, 96 phone calls were recorded that did not require consular intervention, only providing information on security instructions, the airspace situation and other operational clarifications.

Also, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) of the Republic of Moldova mention that the crisis cell is active “on a permanent basis, in the context of security developments in the Middle East. The regional situation remains complex and volatile, with repeated missile and drone attacks, and in certain areas the airspace is closed or affected”.

“According to the information confirmed by the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova, no victims or injured persons are registered among the citizens of the Republic of Moldova in the monitored states”, the representatives of the MAE mentioned.

Recommendations of the Moldovan MFA

In the meantime, Moldovan officials advise citizens in the conflict zone to:

– avoid non-essential travel in the affected areas;

– constantly checks the status of flights;

– respect the instructions of the local authorities;

– keep in touch with the diplomatic missions of the Republic of Moldova;

– get informed exclusively from official sources”, the MAE representatives concluded.

Chisinau condemns Iran's attacks

The head of diplomacy from Chisinau, Mihai Popșoi, mentioned that “The Republic of Moldova strongly condemns Iran's attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states in the Middle East: the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia.” The position was made public in a post on the X platform.

And the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Israel, Alex Roitman, stated for “Adevărul” that the safety of Moldovans in the state in conflict depends on compliance with protective measures, and one of the most important is being in shelters during missile or drone attacks.

There are approximately 15,000 Moldovan citizens in Israel, spread in different regions of the country, where attacks are currently taking place at the national level, the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in this country also emphasized.

“The Moldovan community is spread over the entire territory of the country: center, south and north. Unfortunately, the attacks take place all over the Israeli territory. Therefore, the security conditions are similar everywhere,” added the diplomat.

Alex Roitman states that most Moldovans keep their calm, except for those who have been in this state for a short time and who have faced a military conflict for the first time, panicking when it breaks out.

“I have to note that our citizens, for the most part, keep calm and do not panic. Of course, there are also cases of people who arrived in such a situation of military conflict for the first time, so they were a little scared by what was happening. At the same time, after the discussions, they regained their composure and understood that precautions must be taken to protect their lives.” concluded the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Israel, Alex Roitman.

The ambassador revealed that in Tel Aviv, where he is currently, the streets are deserted most of the time, and people, who are hiding in shelters, only come out during the breaks between rockets, which are very rare. But when the sirens sound, everyone quickly returns to shelters.

The United States and Israel launched a coordinated military offensive against Iran on Saturday morning, targeting “dozens of military targets” in Tehran and other cities, including Isfahan, Tabriz, Karaj, Qom, Kermanshah and Ilam. The operation is called “Epic Rage” by the Pentagon and “Lion's Rage” by the Israeli military, with the stated aim of neutralizing Iranian threats and destroying the Tehran regime's missile and military infrastructure. Shortly after the initial attacks, Iran launched a series of counter-attacks with missiles and drones towards Israel and towards US military bases in the region, such as those in Qatar, Bahrain or the United Arab Emirates.
