Israeli Air Force fighters began striking the south of the Lebanese capital. Several explosions were heard in Beirut, and Israeli planes were flying over the city.
The IDF has made the northern border a closed military zone and called on residents of Beirut's suburbs to evacuate ahead of airstrikes on Hezbollah targets. Five brigades of the Israel Defense Forces are deployed in the Lebanese border area.
