War veterans choose engineering specialties for study. This is evidenced by the results of the new recruitment of Metinvest Polytechnic University.
In 2025, more than 150 bachelors and masters, as well as 94 junior bachelors, entered the university for the first time. Among the students are 26 war veterans, including defenders of Mariupol, who were captured and returned to peaceful life. As part of the “Future” program of the “Heart of Azovstal” Foundation, the defenders of Mariupol chose to study IT specialties, automation, robotics and business analytics.
Another student is Volodymyr Tyshchenko, a veteran of the Marines who, after being wounded near Krynkami, was demobilized and returned to work at Zaporizhstal. He entered the program “Metallurgy of Ferrous Metals” at the expense of Metinvest.
In total, more than 600 students study at the university today, including 52 veterans, for whom education becomes not only an opportunity to acquire a new profession, but also an important stage of returning to a peaceful life.
Metinvest Polytechnic's programs cover metallurgy, mining, mechanics, IT, automation, electrical engineering and occupational safety. Training combines theory with practice at Rinat Akhmetov's Metinvest production facilities. The most successful students receive scholarships, grants, job offers and internships abroad.
