The soprano Irina Baiant is among the Romanians who were surprised by the war in a Gulf country, she is currently in Qatar. The star filmed the Iranian missile salvo intercepted over Doha last night from his hotel room. She tells her fans that she is waiting for news from the authorities and airlines so she can return home.

“I never imagined I'd be writing this from a hotel room, on a night when the sky sounded different than I've ever heard it. I'm in Doha and I'm caught up here by the conflict in the area,” the soprano wrote in a Facebook message.

“Sirens, explosions in the distance, alert messages. Hotel windows were shaking. There were about a hundred missiles and drones intercepted, with a peak close to midnight. They could be seen in the sky like fireworks, but it was no celebration. Each interception was an extra breath…after 4 hours of quiet, the morning rang the nightmare again. The anti-aircraft shield worked, and that gave us kept safe. All the missiles were intercepted,” said Irina Baiants, who also posted footage of the salvo of missiles launched by Iran against the Arab countries allied with the US.

“Everyone is looking for solutions”

“The local authorities and my team are managing the situation, and I am in permanent contact with them and they are safe. At the moment, the airspace is closed and flights may undergo changes. There are uncertainties about the return, but we will keep you informed of any changes that may occur. We are currently waiting for news from the airlines. Everyone is looking for solutions to bring us home,” she states.

Soprano Irina Baianț has scheduled a performance in Romania next week, on March 8, at the Palatului Hall in Bucharest.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, on Saturday, that there are no wounded Romanians in the region and no repatriation requests from Iran. According to the MFA, Romania's diplomatic missions and consular offices in the region are in contact with approximately 1,000 Romanian citizens.

The United States and Israel launched a coordinated attack on Iran on Saturday morning, and the war soon spread across the region, with Tehran launching retaliatory attacks on Israel and US military forces at bases in the Middle East. Moreover, Iran has launched strikes on all countries in the Persian Gulf region rich in oil and allies of the United States.
