An Ipsos poll, conducted after the attacks against Iran, shows that only a quarter of Americans support US intervention in the Middle East. Also, half of those interviewed believe that President Donald Trump resorts to force too easily, informs Reuters.
Some 27% of respondents approve of strikes against Iran, while 43% disapprove and 23% are unsure.
After Trump ordered military interventions in Venezuela, Syria and Nigeria in recent months, 56% of Americans believe the president is too inclined to use military force to advance US interests.
The survey was conducted during the Israeli and US attacks on Iran and completed before the US military announced the first casualties in the operations: three soldiers dead and five seriously wounded.
Although 55 percent of Republicans said they supported the strikes and only 13 percent disapproved, the poll showed 42 percent of Trump's party supporters would be less inclined to support the Iran campaign if U.S. troops suffered losses.
President Trump's approval rating is 39 percent, down one percentage point from the previous poll, from February 18-23.
The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,282 people, with a margin of error of three percent.
