On Saturday, prosecutors searched the homes of the families of the teenagers accused of killing Mario Berinde, the 15-year-old boy from Cenai, Timiș County, according to Digi24. Meanwhile, Mario was led down the last road.

The two 15-year-old minors accused in the case were remanded in custody, after the Timiș Court accepted the request of the prosecutors. A third minor, 13 years old, involved in the case, is not criminally responsible.

According to a statement sent on Friday by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Timiș Court, the first 15-year-old teenager is being investigated for aggravated murder and desecration of corpses, and the second is accused of desecration of corpses and favoring the perpetrator.

What were the searches aimed at?

According to Digi24, searches were carried out on Saturday at three addresses in the town of Cena, which belong to the families of the 15-year-old teenagers involved in the case.

The two teenagers stated at the hearings that they consumed dangerous drugs, namely marijuana, after they killed Mario Berinde, and the investigators are trying to determine where they obtained the substances, according to the cited source.

DIICOT announced a day ago that it opened a criminal case in rem for trafficking in dangerous drugs and possession of dangerous drugs for personal consumption, without the right.

At the same time, the 13-year-old minor involved in the case was found positive for drug consumption following the test performed during the medical examination requested by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Timiș Court.

Mario's father also attended the funeral on Saturday, flanked by 10 people from the special combat troops. He is convicted of robbery.

Details from the investigation

According to the investigators, on January 19, the first minor suspect, together with the 13-year-old minor, would have acted on the basis of a predetermined plan and would have killed Mario Alin Berinde by repeated blows with a hatchet and a knife, in a building in the town of Cena.

Later, the second 15-year-old suspect also arrived at the crime scene. The prosecutors show that the three minors desecrated the victim's body, which they set on fire and buried behind the garden. The second suspect allegedly helped the others get rid of the body and erase the traces of the crime.

Regarding the 13-year-old minor, who is not criminally responsible, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection Timiș was notified, the Prosecutor's Office states.

Alin Berinde, the boy's uncle, is a local policeman in Timisoara. He said he was at work when he learned that investigators had found his grandson's purse with traces of blood on it. He took time off and helped with the search.

“On the way, I asked him (not the 13-year-old boy) if he had a fight with Mario, if he had any discussions. He said that he is good friends with Mario, they get along very well, they never fought. He was very incoherent in his statements, he did not pay attention to the questions, he answered, but he deviated from the topic. And then I forced the note and invented a story: that traces of blood were found on the handbag and other DNA samples are taken from handbag, if he has come into contact with other people”, says the man.

After a moment of silence, the child admitted the crime: “Let me tell you the truth: Mario is dead. Dani killed him.” He then claimed that he did not know where the body was.

“They went (not the police) and after this Dani, they also took him out of the house. No reaction, no grimace, no remorse, nothing. I was sure he was not involved,” the man added.
