CNN discusses a letter in which the department of culture and tourism (DCT) in the emirate of Abu Dhabi asks hotels to extend the stay of guests who are “unable to travel due to circumstances beyond their control.”

“We kindly request you to extend their stay until they are able to leave. The cost of the extended stay will be covered by DCT Abu Dhabi,” the document said.

According to Gulf News, Dubai's department of economy and tourism has instructed hotels to extend guests' stays on the same terms as they made their original reservations. Guests are to stay in hotels even if they are unable to immediately cover the costs of extending their stay, the newspaper wrote.

The United Arab Emirates partially closed its airspace on Saturday after the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran and faced retaliatory strikes from that country. Most commercial flights to and from the UAE were canceled and many tourists were stranded in the country.

As a result of Iranian retaliatory attacks in the UAE, at least three people were killed and 58 were injured. On Saturday, there were reports of strikes at airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, as well as an explosion and fire at the 5-star Fairmont The Palm hotel in the popular Palm Jumeirah district in Dubai.
