Is this a familiar situation? We bought a bunch of bananas, and after a couple of days they were already covered with dark spots, and it was unpleasant to eat them. Many people simply throw away such fruits, but there is a brilliant life hack – now you can always have a supply of preparations for quick desserts in the freezer.
What to do:
Saving bananas couldn't be easier. They need to be peeled (even if it is completely black – the flesh inside usually remains normal) and cut into circles about 1–1.5 cm thick.
An important point: the pieces should be laid out on a cutting board or flat plate in one layer so that they do not touch each other, and put in the freezer for 2-3 hours. If you just dump them in a pile, they will stick together into an icy ball.
Once the bananas have hardened, they can be placed in a container or ziplock bag. This way they take up minimal space and are perfectly stored for up to 3 months.
Where to use the workpiece:
- Homemade ice cream in 2 minutes. If you beat frozen bananas with a powerful blender, they turn into a thick creamy mass, the texture indistinguishable from a soft ice cream. You can add a spoonful of cocoa, peanut butter or berries – and a healthy dessert is ready.
- Thick cocktails. Frozen chunks make the smoothie thick and icy, just like a coffee shop. There is no need to add regular ice, which, when melted, dilutes the taste of the drink with water.
- Perfect baked goods. For muffins and banana bread, frozen (thawed) bananas are even better than fresh bananas, making them sweeter, moister, and more flavorful.
Why is it beneficial:
This is a real budget savings. A package of good ice cream is now expensive, and three “tired” bananas can easily turn into several servings of a natural treat. In addition, this is completely waste-free consumption – the products go to use and not to the trash.
