Diplomatic missions and consular offices of Romania in the region are in contact with approximately 1,000 Romanian citizens. The main concern is the provision of consular assistance for minors and families with children, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
There are no injured Romanian citizens in the region at this moment, Romanian diplomacy stated. Also, until this moment, no requests have been received from Romanians who want to be repatriated from Iran as a result of today's attacks carried out by Israel and the USA.
Previously, the spokesperson of the Bucharest National Airports Company (CNAB) stated for HotNews that approximately 1,500 Romanians are affected by the closure of the airspace in the region. “We already have cancellations scheduled, there will certainly be more. We ask passengers to contact the airlines if they have flights to Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Tel Aviv for last-minute information and updates,” announced Teo Postelnicu.

Crisis Cell
As a result of the attacks on Saturday morning, the Crisis Cell of the MAE was activated, in which Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan also participated.
It included a teleconference with the heads of diplomatic missions in the states of the region, namely the State of Israel, the State of Palestine, Iran, Jordan, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates.
MAE recommendations for Romanian citizens
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends to Romanian citizens who intend to travel abroad in the next period to take into account the disruptions recorded at the level of international flights, especially for the states and cities that constitute air transit points.
Also, given the fluid nature of the situation, the MAE recommends responsibly evaluating the need to carry out these trips and, if possible, postponing them until the security situation improves and commercial flights resume under normal conditions.
At the same time, in the case of Romanian citizens who are abroad and are affected by the disruption of flights, the MAE recommends maintaining dialogue with airlines or travel agencies, as well as notifying the diplomatic mission or consular office of Romania in the state where they are.
The MAE reminds that the margin of intervention of diplomatic missions and consular offices in such situations of force majeure is limited, considering the dynamics of developments and their impact, including on movements within the affected states, in accordance with the recommendations and instructions of the local authorities.
Additionally, in the same context, the MAE raised the level of travel warnings to 6/9 – Avoid non-essential travel! for the following countries: Bahrain (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/68211), Kuwait (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/66992), Jordan (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/44859), Qatar (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/68209), and the United Arab Emirates (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/68210).
The MFA reminds that for the State of Israel the warning level is 8/9 – Avoid any travel! (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/2938), and for Iran 9/9 – Leave the country immediately! (https://www.mae.ro/travel-alerts/2937).
At the same time, the MAE reminds the fact that Romanian citizens traveling abroad have at their disposal the “Informed Traveller” application (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mae.alerte&hl=ro, https://apps.apple.com/ro/app/c%C4%83l%C4%83tore%C8%99te-informat/id6452016795), which provides information and advice of travel.
