The head of American diplomacy, Marco Rubio, will travel to Israel on Monday for a lightning visit focused on Iran, while the United States still maintains the threat of military intervention against Tehran, writes AFP.
In a statement, the US State Department specified that the Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be in Israel on March 2-3, where he will hold discussions regarding Iran. He will also discuss other regional priorities, including Lebanon and US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza.
The announcement comes in the context in which the United States has mobilized an important military force in the region amid rising tensions with Iran.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, according to a US official, the US Secretary of State's visit has been postponed to Monday.
At the same time, this trip will also have an unusual aspect: no journalist accredited to the State Department will be able to accompany Marco Rubio on this trip.
