As the press service shared, the elderly woman was admitted to the burn center. It turned out that while intoxicated, she went out onto the balcony, lost her balance and instinctively grabbed the door handle. She fell asleep there. During long contact with cold metal, the brush froze to the surface.
Relatives, having discovered the victim, did not tear off the hand themselves, so as not to damage the tissue, and took the woman to the hospital along with the handle. Doctors separated the object using saline, but the area and depth of the lesion turned out to be critical. It was not possible to save the hand – doctors had to amputate it. The patient is now being prepared for discharge, with a long recovery ahead.
Vyacheslav Muravyov, a surgeon at the burn center, reminds Krasnoyarsk residents how to avoid such tragedies. You should not drink alcohol in the cold – it creates a false feeling of warmth and increases the risk of frostbite. If a person is frozen to the metal, you should not try to tear it off with a jerk; it is better to pour warm water over the contact area. Doctors also ask not to forget about elderly relatives and regularly check how they are feeling.
