Many taxpayers who want to settle their taxes via the Your e-PIT service are waiting to receive a paper PIT from their employer. They don't know that they don't need a paper return at all. The tax office already has all the documents – writes Friday's “Gazeta Wyborcza”.

According to the newspaper, the PIT settlement period for last year began on February 15. From now on, taxpayers will be able to receive tax returns for 2025 in the Your e-PIT service, completed on the basis of data available to the tax office. The prepared testimonies include, among others: information from payers, including PIT exemptions for people up to 26 years of age, for four-plus families, for working seniors, for people returning from abroad and deductions for membership fees to trade unions. All you need to do is check, accept, modify the completed returns (e.g. add tax breaks, deductions) and send them without leaving your home.
Meanwhile, Facebook groups are filled with entries such as: “I can't settle my e-PIT because I don't have a paper PIT from my employer.”
“These entries show that Poles, although they are more and more willing to use the Your e-PIT service, still do not understand how it works. Thanks to this service, there is no need to wait for paper PIT returns, which employers are obliged to deliver to employees by the end of February. The tax office already has them, because companies have to submit them to the tax office by January 31, and it is on their basis that the Your e-PIT settlement is prepared,” writes “GW”.
He explains that by using the Your e-PIT service, you will receive your tax refund within 45 days. For comparison, in the case of traditional paper settlements, the return period is up to three months.
The newspaper reminds that all those who have doubts about how to settle their tax can, among others: call the national KAS hotline (+48) 22 330 03 30. Detailed information on PIT settlement can also be found on the website kontakt.gov.pl. (PAP)
