The Mayor of Częstochowa is free, but suspended from official duties

The mayor of Częstochowa, Krzysztof M., suspected of corruption, was suspended from performing his official duties, is banned from staying on the premises of the local City Hall and was obliged to pay PLN 200,000. PLN surety – the National Prosecutor's Office decided on Friday.


After Thursday's decision of the Katowice court, which did not accept the request to arrest the local government official, investigators applied preventive measures against him.
Katarzyna Calów-Jaszewska from the press department of the National Prosecutor's Office told PAP that Krzysztof M. was obliged to pay PLN 200,000. PLN bail, he is banned from leaving the country and his passport is confiscated, he is placed under police supervision and is banned from contacting other suspects and witnesses. In accordance with the decision of the PK, M. is also prohibited from staying on the premises of the Częstochowa City Hall and has been suspended from performing his official duties as president.
Regardless of these decisions, the PK announced that it would file a complaint against the decision to refuse to arrest Krzysztof M. (PAP)
