The first information shows that the fire would have started from a computer in the IT laboratory, according to the local publication Actual Mehedinți. Authorities are now trying to determine exactly what led to the incident.
Representatives of the Mehedinți Emergency Situations Inspectorate and the police intervened at the scene, who immediately started checks. The investigation is ongoing, and specialists will determine whether it was a short circuit or another technical failure.
The smoke emissions were significant, and the intervention crews acted both to extinguish the fire and to ventilate the affected rooms. At this time, firefighters are continuing operations to completely extinguish the fire.
Courses temporarily suspended
Due to the damage and smoke that entered several classrooms, the school management decided to suspend classes with physical presence. Approximately 250 students will attend classes in the online system until the intervention is completed and the situation in the building is accurately assessed.
Authorities are yet to determine the extent of the property damage and announce when students will be able to safely return to classes.
