CBAM: the new government should achieve a postponement of the environmental duty Less than half a year…

In less than half a year, the European CBAM ecocommittee should be fully operational. If Ukraine does not receive a reprieve, the consequences may be critical for the economy:
▪️ -6.4% to GDP,
▪️ -116 thousand jobs,
▪️ -4.7 billion dollars. export,
▪️ -2.7 billion dollars. investments until 2030.
“We have to achieve force majeure conditions for Ukrainian exporters. CBAM is a tax of 150 euros per ton, which will go to the EU budget, not Ukraine. The extractive industry is the basis of our industrial security,” emphasizes Ksenia Orynchak, executive director of NADPU.
She urges the new government to focus on negotiations with the EU and use the new US Critical Minerals Agreement as an argument for delay.
🇪🇺 In the 27 EU countries, CBAM is implemented flexibly, with exemptions and exceptions.
🇺🇦 Ukraine does not yet have similar protection, is not a member of the EU and has not adapted all the directives.
Business is ready for compromises — but expects systematic communication from the state. There are no more chances to waste time.
