The City Hall of the Capital declared on Wednesday that the “thousands of tons of salt” that sanitation operators used while clearing the streets this winter “eroded the asphalt”, which already had “problems”.
The municipality spoke about the potholes on the streets of the Capital, on Wednesday evening, in a post on Facebook.
“This winter, we had snow in periods, so the sanitation operators, with whom the sector municipalities have signed contracts for snow removal, threw thousands and thousands of tons of salt. Unbeknownst! Which eroded the asphalt and so with problems. Due to the underfunding of the PMB, serious investments could not be made for years in a row. Only rags! Plus the freeze-thaw phenomenon often appeared,” wrote the institution.
The City Hall of the Capital said that “many potholes have formed around the mouths of canals or on the routes of utility networks, where construction companies are obliged to intervene”.
The city hall stated that it manages only 880 of the 5,340 streets in the city, through the Streets Administration (ASB).
“The rest of 4,460 belong to the sector town halls and are obliged to intervene to pave/repair them. The Town Hall of Sector 2, because it does not have a framework agreement for works, gave ASB 2 million lei to intervene and repair all the streets, regardless of the administrator”, the municipality also declared.
The municipality claims that at the beginning of the year, ASB launched “an extensive program of repairs on managed streets”.
“Only on Monday, Tuesday and in the first part of today, he sealed 100 pits. In fact, he discovered and intervened on certain areas with significant problems”, concluded the Capital City Hall.
