Large-scale environmental modernization is nearing completion at Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1. Two new electrostatic precipitators were put into operation. Now 13 out of 15 planned modern gas treatment plants are already operating at the station. The remaining two electrostatic precipitators will be launched in the first half of the year.

The operation of the new equipment and the progress of construction of the final facilities of the program were assessed during the off-site meeting by representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of the region. The station was visited by the Minister of Ecology of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Vladimir Chasovitin, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Territory Maxim Ermakov and deputies of the Legislative Assembly.

Each of the new electrostatic precipitators captures more than 99% of dust. Under the influence of an electric field, special electrodes attract the smallest particles onto the plates inside the installations, after which they settle in special bunkers. After the launch of all gas treatment units, the station’s dust emissions will be reduced by 80%, and overall by 20%.

“In June of this year we will complete the installation and put into operation the last two electrostatic precipitators. This means that all boilers at the station will be equipped with highly efficient gas cleaning equipment. The environmental modernization of CHPP-1 will be fully completed in the second half of 2026. This is not just the fulfillment of obligations, this is our contribution to the quality of life in Krasnoyarsk,” emphasized Oleg Bubnovsky, General Director of the Yenisei TGC (a division of the SGC in the Krasnoyarsk Territory).

Particular attention during the visit was paid to the emissions monitoring system. At the station, the process is fully automated and eliminates the human factor when receiving data. Special sensors installed on pipes at a height of up to 100 meters monitor in real time the concentrations of marker substances for production: nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide and particulate matter (dust). Gas parameters are also recorded: pressure, flow, humidity and oxygen content.

All information is continuously broadcast to the website of the Siberian Generating Company. The quality of the monitoring system, the correctness and objectivity of the data have been confirmed by Rosprirodnadzor specialists. The pipes of all SGK thermal power plants in Krasnoyarsk are equipped with such automated emission control systems.

“We have stated the fact that the SGK company is on schedule to reduce emissions,” said Vladimir Chasovitin, Minister of Ecology of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. “We have no fears that they will carry out their plans.” This is the result of systematic work, the implementation of which we control.”

The renovation of the Krasnoyarsk CHPP-1 has been carried out since 2018 as part of the federal project “Clean Air” of the national project “Ecological Well-Being” using the mechanism of power supply agreements (CSA-2). The total investment of SGK in the modernization of the station is 22 billion rubles. The program includes not only the installation of electric precipitators. At CHPP-1, a new chimney with a height of 275 meters was erected, which replaced three lower ones from 105 to 120 meters.

“I would like to note the responsibility of the SGC,” said the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Maxim Ermakov. — How difficult is the modernization process itself without stopping the main production. But CHPP-1 provides energy resources to a third of Krasnoyarsk. At the same time, both for industry and for Krasnoyarsk residents, the long-term reconstruction went unnoticed – everyone was provided with heat and light even in the most severe frosts. A colossal amount of work has been done; behind this lies unique technical solutions and the hard work of power engineers.”

Along with environmental modernization, the main generating equipment is also being updated. Two new boiler units have already been put into operation at the station and two turbines with a capacity of 35 MW each are being installed. It is important to note that all new equipment is of domestic production: the boilers were manufactured at the Podolsk Machine-Building Plant, the turbines were manufactured at the Kaluga Turbine Plant, and the generators were manufactured at the Elsib enterprise in Novosibirsk.

The Siberian generating company systematically fulfills its obligations to reduce the burden on the environment, confirming its status as a responsible executor of the federal Clean Air project.
